Design and Implementation of the database and associated processes as well as backup platforms that underlay and supports the eSG solutions.
The DBA Specialist will typically perform project roles including DB dimensioning, configuring and tuning; they can also participate in pre-sales and requirements definition processes, including customer workshops if appropriate.
Works closely with the eSG development team ensuring consistency of database structure across the eSG deployed solutions. Including review of schema designs and performance of database queries.
Is a technical expert on database, storage and backup solution elements.
Essential skills and Experience
Knowledge & Experience Very strong knowledge of Oracle-specific and/or generic SQL database concepts and operation, including scripting.
Experience in distributed database management and Cluster environments.
Experience with Oracle RAC systems and solutions.
Good knowledge of Oracle Data Guard and Veritas Volume Manager.
Experience with Unix (preferably Solaris), including scripting (shell, Perl, Python, etc.).
Strong Oracle administration abilities.
Good UNIX (Solaris) administration abilities.
Experience with Oracle backup and recovery solutions.
Excellent system analysis and database design abilities.
Skills Highly effective communication, conflict resolution and people management skills that leads to productive teams and excellent working relationships with all parties.
Take ownership (delivery, interruptions, etc) of issues through to resolution.
Quickly identify, analyse and pro-actively solve problems before they affect the outcomes of projects.
Ability to identify and deliver improvement.
Ability to mentor and develop staff.
Excellent English oral and written communications skills. Particularly in the areas of technical presentation and technical document writing.
Quickly learn and become an expert in new skills and technologies.
Quickly gain credibility and build successful relationships with customers, third parties, and eSG staff. This is especially so at a technical level.
Work effectively with people across multiple organizational, functional, geographic and cultural boundaries, and across a wide spectrum of technical and professional skills.
